MVHS is proud to present “A Work in Progress,” the school’s first literary magazine in ten years! Produced by the Literary Magazine Club over the course of several months, the publication showcases  diverse student work, including short stories, poetry, artwork and photography.

To develop and curate this remarkable collection of student creativity, each club member employed and contributed a range of skills and talents, from collaboration and decision-making, to fundraising and editing.

The magazine’s name, “A Work in Progress,” reflects the challenges and opportunities of a first-time project, and the hopes and goals to be carried forward.

In the years ahead, the club hopes to achieve all its founding goals to ensure the enduring success of the magazine. Among them is the publication of a print edition. “The digital version is an awesome product, but I know it is important to all the club members to be able to hold the magazine in their hands next year,” said Mrs. Hooper, club advisor.

A print version would also help promote the magazine within the community and reach more readers. “I think this is a great way to inspire support and appreciation for the arts, and to recognize the many talented artists in our school,” said Colleen Finn, editor-in-chief. But even at 71 digital pages, “A Work in Progress” is well on its way to fulfill that mission.

As a club, we are incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to publish the magazine. It has been an extremely successful start to what, we hope, will evolve as a cherished Minisink tradition for years to come. A big thank you to everyone who helped to make it happen, and we hope you will take the time to sit back, relax, and enjoy reading our first literary magazine!
