Minisink’s farewell to the Class of 2018 began on Monday, June 18, with the Baccalaureate Exercises in the high school auditorium.

The JROTC Colorguard opened the ceremonies to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.” Directed by Victor Izzo III, the Chamber Choir performed Cindy Lauper’s “Time After Time,” and the Senior Chorus performed "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Baccalaureate addresses were presented by Joseph Flaherty, president of the Board of Education; Brian C. Monahan, superintendent of schools; Edward Sucich, social studies teacher and department chair; Laura Putnam, class parent—and senior William Schiele.

Speaking to and on behalf of his graduating peers, Schiele highlighted the diverse and unique qualities of the Class of 2018, and the many milestones and memories they shared. “We are all different but we know how to come together and stand strong as one,” he said. “We are the start of a new era, new generation, born in 2000! We are the start of the millennium.”

Congratulations, Class of 2018! Your families and your school community believe in you!
